Gurriny strives to empower the people of Yarrabah by assisting individuals identify, manage, and/or prevent chronic diseases.
Our clinics are committed to preventative care that starts with regular health checks supported by ongoing health education and management.
Our Clinical Team is led by Senior Medical Officer Dr Jason King a team of GPs, nurses, health workers and administrators care for over 3000 clients from the Yarrabah and broader Aboriginal community.
The Care Coordination team focuses on encouraging community to have Health Checks and regular chronic disease check ups, and provide ongoing education and support directly to clients to assist in the management of their chronic health conditions. Whilst much of this support will be provided in the clinic, the team will aim to be more community based
Clinic hours
Gurriny clients can access services at both clinics: 1 Bukki Rd and 6 Workshop Rd, Yarrabah on weekdays during the following hours;
Monday: 8.00am to 4.30pm
Tuesday: 8.00am to 4.30pm
Wednesday: 8.00am to 4.30pm
Thursday: 8.00am to 12.30pm
(Note: the clinic is closed to clients on Thursday afternoon)
Friday: 8.00am to 4.30pm
Both clinics are closed on public holidays.

We encourage clients to call ahead and make an appointment before attending either clinic. We do accept 'walk-in' clients, however these will be reviewed at the time and provided an appointment at the earliest opportunity.
Longer doctor consultations, if required, should be requested when booking an appointment.
Important information for clients
It is essential that the clinics have your current contact details. Patients have a responsibility for their own healthcare and this includes returning to see the doctor for results of tests. Personal health Information of clients is treated as confidential at all times.

Courtesy Transport Service
Gurriny offers a complimentary patient courtesy transport service to and from the Yarrabah clinics for our clients. We also provide patient courtesy transport service to Cairns for our clients to access specialist appointments.
Bookings for this service can be made at the time an appointment is made but must be booked at least 24 hours before the appointment by calling reception on 07 4226 4100.
Onsite Pharmacy
The Yarrabah Pharmacy is located within the Gurriny Yealamucka Health Services’ Primary Health Centre at 1 Bukki Road Yarrabah.
The Pharmacy operates on weekdays from 8:30am to 4:00pm, except Thursdays when it is open from 8:30am to 1:00pm.
The convenience of having a pharmacy onsite ensures that our clients have direct access to this service for their healthcare needs. A pharmacist processes scripts, give medication, and provides health advice where required. Over-the-counter items can also be purchased. Clients are encouraged to provide the pharmacist with their Medicare and Health Care Cards. EFTPOS facilities are available.
After hours
The Yarrabah Emergency Department provides emergency medical after hours care for Yarrabah clients.
If you require urgent medical attention, present directly to the Yarrabah Emergency Department (next door to the Gurriny clinic) at 1 Bukki Road using the intercom at the gate.
