Bukki Road car park upgrades officially unveiled

Wednesday, September 9, 2026

A major upgrade to the car park outside Gurriny Yealamucka Health Services Aboriginal Corporation’s Bukki Road Clinic has reached an important milestone, with the new facilities officially unveiled today.

Mulgrave MP Terry James joined GYHSAC, Northern Civil Solutions and Queensland Health staff to mark the occasion and recognise the progress. Mr James addressed those attending as did GYHSAC Board member David Baird.

A small cake-cutting ceremony marked the milestone for the Yarrabah community.

The project is now mostly complete and has delivered 42 new car parking spaces along Bukki Road, increasing parking capacity and providing safer and more accessible entry into the Bukki Road Clinic.

The upgraded area provides a cleaner, sealed surface for community members and staff, creating a significant improvement during wet weather and reducing muddy conditions around the clinic.

Improved pedestrian access and accessibility have also been incorporated into the works, supporting safer movement between the car park and clinic and making access easier for patients, families, staff and visitors.

The upgraded car park is an important practical improvement for people accessing healthcare at GYHSAC, helping create a safer and more welcoming arrival point at the Bukki Road Clinic.

GYHSAC thanked everyone who contributed to the project, including construction teams working on the ground and staff and partners supporting its delivery.

With the project nearing completion, the upgraded car park marks another investment in improving access, safety and the experience of community members visiting GYHSAC's Bukki Road Clinic.
