Clontarf 715 health checks are officially underway for 2025, marking another strong year of partnership between Gurriny Yealamucka Child Health and the Clontarf Academy.
Each year, these checks play a vital role in supporting the wellbeing, learning and future pathways of young Yarrabah men — and this year is no different.
To help keep things running smoothly, a small adjustment has been made. Due to short staffing in Child Health, Yarrabah State High School students will now have their checks completed at our Bukki Road clinic. We appreciate everyone’s flexibility as we continue prioritising the highest standard of care for our students.
These health checks go far beyond routine observations. They give our team the opportunity to look at every layer of wellbeing — social, spiritual, emotional and physical — creating a full picture of each young man’s health.
Child Health Team Leader Miriam Math said the checks are one of the most meaningful parts of the year for her team.
“These boys are our future leaders. Every conversation we have with them, every check, every moment spent listening — it all helps build their confidence and reminds them they’re supported,” she said.
“We want them to walk away feeling strong, heard, and proud of who they are.”
Throughout the checks, the Child Health team yarns with students about healthy choices, staying active, managing stress, and speaking up when things feel tough. These conversations are just as important as the clinical assessments themselves.
At the heart of it all is a simple but powerful goal: to empower our young men with knowledge, strength and cultural grounding. By investing in them today, we help shape the proud, healthy Yarrabah leaders of tomorrow.
We’re looking forward to another positive and impactful round of health checks.
