Gurriny Yealamucka hosted a meaningful and energising visit earlier this morning as representatives from the Mornington Island Ngarnal Community Health Centre toured our facilities and spent time learning about how we deliver culturally safe, community-led care in Yarrabah.

Over the course of an hour, our visitors were guided through several key departments, meeting staff, hearing firsthand experiences and gaining a deeper understanding of how each team works to support the health and wellbeing of our community.

From Primary Health through to Social and Emotional Wellbeing, they explored the many ways Gurriny stays grounded in culture, connection and responsive care.

There was strong interest in our integrated model, particularly how our teams collaborate, share information and adapt services to meet emerging needs. Staff across the organisation had the chance to yarn, answer questions and offer insights into what makes Gurriny Yealamucka’s approach unique — one built on trust, community strength and long-standing relationships.

The visit was mutually beneficial, offering a valuable opportunity for shared learning and reflection.

Exchanges like this help strengthen ties between communities and contribute to a broader network of culturally informed healthcare across the region. For Gurriny Yealamucka it was a chance to showcase our work while also gaining new perspectives from another remote community health service.

We extend our thanks to the Mornington Island team for making the trip. Our door remains open, and we look forward to continuing the connection, collaboration and knowledge-sharing in the future.
