The Yarrabah Youth Health Festival and Youth Prevention Campaign (YPC) 2026 has entered its second week with strong community participation continuing at the Bukki Road Clinic, where 144 local young people aged 15 to 30 have already completed a health check.
The opening week delivered consistent attendance, with 43 health checks completed on Monday, 42 on Tuesday, 35 on Wednesday and 24 on Thursday, highlighting the positive response from Yarrabah youth.
Throughout the first week, the festival created a welcoming environment where young people connected with staff, support services and one another while enjoying basketball, music, activities and the popular Juice Bar. The combination of recreation and health continues to encourage young people to engage with their wellbeing in a relaxed, culturally safe setting.
The campaign has also been strengthened by the efforts of YPC's youth influencers, who continue encouraging their peers to visit the festival and participate in health checks. The current leaderboard is led by Shemaiah with 37 referrals, followed by Shatner with 28 and Tristan with 22.
Adding to the excitement this week is the arrival of special guest Luke Carroll, who is spending today and tomorrow in Yarrabah meeting local young people, joining festival activities and supporting the campaign's positive message around youth health and wellbeing.
With the festival now working towards more than 200 health checks, Gurriny Yealamucka is encouraging more Yarrabah young people aged 15 to 30 to visit the Bukki Road Clinic.
Whether it's enjoying the activities, catching up with friends, connecting with services or completing a non-pressured, culturally safe health check, the Youth Health Festival continues to provide a welcoming space where young people can invest in their health and future.
