Culture Care Connect Community Controlled Suicide
Integrating suicide prevention planning and aftercare enables an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led, coordinated approach to reduce self-harm, suicidal ideation, and suicide in line with Yarrabah’s identified needs and priorities.
The Culture Care Connect (CCC) team bring together local Yarrabah services to ensure connectedness between systems, services and supports, and decrease duplication.
Ensuring all services are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led:
- Police
- Yarrabah Early Childhood,
- Primary and Secondary schools
- PCYC
- Other government agencies and local Yarrabah organisations

GYSHAC can deliver ongoing aftercare services aimed at significantly reducing suicide among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
GYHSAC services include:
- Family Healing
- Family Wellbeing
- General Practitioners
- Mens and Women’s Programs
- Social and Emotional
- Wellbeing Program
The CCC program aims are to:
- Improve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mental health and suicide prevention outcomes
- Build evidence and understanding through working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander experts and those with lived experience
- Support a culturally appropriate mental health system workforce
- Provide early intervention measures that contribute to improved social and emotional wellbeing outcomes
