Youth Wellbeing

The Youth Wellbeing Team operate the Youth Hub and an Outreach Service in Yarrabah, from which the youth engagement and diversionary activities are delivered in an inviting, supportive, and safe environment.

The Youth Wellbeing Team offer intervention and support services implemented and delivered aim to address (but is not limited to) the following: 

  • Substance misuse and dependency
  • Barriers to social integration
  • Leadership capacity and agency (incl. ability to navigate government services and housing supports)
  • Life skills (financial and digital literacy)
  • Improved health and wellbeing, employment or educational outcomes
  • Mentoring by trustworthy volunteers willing to build positive relationships

All activities must be informed by a trauma-aware and healing-informed practice that promotes healing through self-protection and self-regulation strategies, raises understanding/awareness of actions and consequences, incorporates leadership strategies, and ensures young people and families have access to both mainstream and community-controlled service providers during the project period. 

The Youth Hub is a youth-friendly space providing access to services, programs, and activities that support young people’s personal, social, and professional development.

The Youth Wellbeing Team empowers young people aged 12–25 through a safe environment for connection, guidance, and meaningful engagement.

Key Features of the Youth Hub:

  • Access to mental health support, career counselling, educational resources, and recreational activities
  • A welcoming and inclusive, fostering a sense of community 
  • Offer programs aimed at developing practical skills, including workshops on leadership, financial literacy, and vocational training, to prepare youth for future employment and life challenges
  • Peer Support and Mentorship, allowing young people to share experiences, build relationships, and receive guidance from trusted adults
  • Encouraging active participation and a sense of ownership, helping to address issues that matter most to Yarrabah youth

The Youth Hub operating hours are Monday to Friday
9am – 2.30pm | 18 to 25 year-olds
2.45 – 4.30pm | 12 years to 17 year-olds
