National Sorry Day

Tuesday, 26 May 2026

National Sorry Day is a time for reflection, truth-telling and healing. Held each year on May 26, it recognises the strength and resilience of the Stolen Generations and acknowledges the ongoing impacts of past government policies on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities.

At Gurriny Yealamucka Health Services, this day is observed with deep respect. It is a moment to honour survivors, stand alongside families and reaffirm our commitment to culturally safe, community-led care that supports healing in all its forms.

As always Gurriny Yealamucka will mark National Sorry Day with staff, community members and Elders to come together to pay respects, share stories and acknowledge the importance of remembering our history while walking forward together.

National Sorry Day reminds us that healing is ongoing and that listening, learning and standing in solidarity all play a part in building a stronger future for generations to come.
